According to reports, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

JAN. 18

THEFT: Jonathon Morris of Leesburg reported someone entered his vehicle and removed hand tools.

CRIMINAL TRESPASSING: John Persinger of Washington C.H. reported three juveniles were on his property near a pond.

UNRULY: Deputies responded to the 5000 block of Palmer Road on a 13-year-old female who was unruly.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE: Sheriff’s deputies responded to US 22 on reports of a domestic incident. Upon arrival all parties involved were identified and it was determined that no assault or threats of violence had occurred.

TRAFFIC CRASH: An unknown driver was traveling south on S.R. 41 and lost control of his/her vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway into the ditch striking a road sign. The driver then departed the scene.

JAN. 17

TRAFFIC CRASH: Michael Morarity of Jeffersonville was traveling east on Old US 35 when a deer entered the roadway into the path of his vehicle. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Milledgeville Community center reported someone caused damage to the rear door of the building.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Marlin Ellis of Washington C.H. was traveling north on S.R. 38 and lost control of his vehicle. Ellis traveled across the centerline of the roadway and overcorrected traveling off the right side of the roadway entering the ditch overturning several times. Ellis refused treatment from medical personnel. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. Ellis was cited for Failure to Control.

JAN. 16

TRAFFIC CRASH: Penelope Neal of Tazwell, Tenn., was traveling on I-71 when a hawk flew into the path of her vehicle. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT/POSSESSING DRUG ABUSE INSTRUMENTS/DRUG PARAPHERNALIA/DRUG ABUSE: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Clyburn Ave on reports of two male subjects involved in a physical altercation. Deputies made contact with the two male subjects Jonathan Chapman and Brian Chapman. Both were arrested for Disorderly by Fighting. During a search of Jonathan Chapman Drug paraphernalia, drug abuse instruments and several pills identified as Xanax were located.

JAN. 15

BREAKING AND ENTERING/CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Lori Moore, Bloomingburg reported someone attempted to gain entry to a barn at her property. Damage was sustained to the door, but nothing was found to be missing.

THEFT: Employees of True North gas station, Octa, reported an unknown person removed several lottery tickets from the business without making payment for them.

SUSPICIOUS PERSONS: Donna Gilpen of Washington C.H. reported two subjects were observed by a neighbor near the back door to her residence. When confronted by the neighbor the subjects fled the area and were not located.

ASSAULT: Staff at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room reported the staff of the Ranch of Opportunity brought a 15-year-old female resident to the emergency room for treatment of injuries sustained during an assault by other clients at the Ranch. The victim stated she was assaulted by several of the other clients. The matter remains under investigation.

JAN. 14

TRAFFIC CRASH: John Kaiser, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., was south bound on I-71, traveling in the center lane around the 67 mile marker, when a semi-tractor trailer drifted into his lane and sideswiped his vehicle. The other vehicle continued traveling while Kaiser exited at S.R. 435 to assess the damage to his vehicle. Minor damage was sustained to the right side of Kaiser’s vehicle.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Emily Gay of Washington C.H. was southbound on Washington Waterloo Road, in the 8000 block, when she was attempting to negotiate a left hand curve. She traveled off the right side of the roadway, where she struck a mail box post and concrete ditch culvert. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on the other side of the creek. Gay’s vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. Gay was cited for Failure to Control.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Robert Juliano of Washington CH was south bound on S.R. 38, in the 11000 block when he states he was distracted inside the vehicle and failed to observe another vehicle driven by Marjorie Schaefer, Bloomingburg, had slowed in preparation to make a left turn. Juliano’s vehicle struck Schaefer’s vehicle causing her to travel off the left side of the roadway where she struck a decorative fence and shrubbery. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Juliano was cited for failing to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

IMPORTUNING: A report was made by a parent who discovered several sexually inappropriate video messages on her 13-year-old child’s phone that had been sent to him by an unknown subject. The matter remains under investigation.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Deputies in the jail division reported a mattress was located in a cell and had been damaged.

TRAFFIC CRASH: A 16-year-old female from Bloomingburg was westbound on Harrison Road near Danville Road when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree stump. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

JAN. 12

TRAFFIC CRASH: Edwine Parke III of Bernville, Penn., was northbound on State Route 729 near Hedge Court when Parke failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Parke’s vehicle struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained no damage.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Cheryl Timock of Cape Coral, Fla., was stopped in traffic on I-71 south bound near the Greene County line, when her foot slipped off the brake pedal and hit the gas pedal, causing her vehicle to strike the vehicle in front of her. That vehicle was driven by Maria Latangie of Cincinnati. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. Timock was cited for failure to control.
