On Nov. 15, Charm-N-Farm 4-H Club had its first meeting at St. Colman Parish Center. The meeting was called to order by last year’s president Clare Sollars at 12 p.m.

The 4-H Pledge was led by Therese Robinson, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Courtney Arnold. Advisor Mary Kay Sollars gave the treasurer’s report on behalf of treasurer Kim Sollars.

Under new business, the club elected officers as follows: President – Madison Callahan; Vice President – Clare Sollars; Treasurer – Spencer Minyo; Secretary – Kim Sollars; News Reporter – Trevor Minyo; Health Officer – Anna Robinson; Safety Officer – McCale Callahan; Environmental – Claudia Fuller; Historian – Laura Robinson; Community Service – Therese Robinson.

Justin Robinson moved that the meeting be adjourned and Anna Robinson seconded.

Members in attendance drew a card bearing the story of a real person. They were then grouped by their person’s income. Lunch was served differently according to each income level; low income sat on the floor and ate rice and beans out of a bucket, middle income served themselves from a buffet of rice and beans and high income were served a meal of salad, bread and lasagna. While eating, Clare and Madison shared information about world hunger and how you can help prevent it. They concluded the luncheon with the following quote from Pope Francis, “A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold…”

The next meeting will be at an advisor’s house on Dec. 30 at 5 p.m. and will be a German-themed Christmas Party.
