According to reports, the Washington C.H. Police Department responded to the following calls:

Jan. 6

Theft/Criminal Damaging/Tampering with Evidence: At 9:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to Kroger on a report of a theft. Upon arrival an investigation provided that Chad E. Ingles had removed items from the business, damaged additional items and tried to dispose of evidence as officers were making contact. Charges were filed.

Inducing Panic/Disorderly Conduct: At 12:18 p.m., an officer responding to Forest Street on a call of a suspicious person found Quentin Smith laying in the middle of the street arguing with individuals who were not there. Charges were filed.

Criminal Damaging/Criminal Trespass: At 1:50 p.m., Cindy Storts reported that overnight someone had forced entry into an unoccupied rental property she owns at 436 N. Fayette St., however nothing was taken.

Burglary/Criminal Damaging: At 4:30 p.m., Sydney Landrum, of 1003 Broadway St., reported that someone had forced entry into her home while she was gone and ransacked several rooms. Nothing was reported missing.

Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments: At 12:41 a.m. during a traffic stop, officers found James W. Picklesimer to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe. Charges were filed.

Jan. 5

Theft: At 10:02 a.m., Christopher VanMeter reported that sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and removed property.

Theft: At 12:05 p.m., Jennifer Lynch reported that sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and removed property.

Robbery: At 12:55 p.m., a Walmart employee reported that a male concealed merchandise and attempted to depart the store without paying for the items. When the male was confronted, he struggled with employees and fled the area on foot. The male, identified as Kaleb S. Pauley, was located by officers a short distance away and was arrested for the listed offense.

Theft: At 4:44 p.m., Robert Hawkins Jr. reported that unknown person(s) removed several items from his residence without permission.

Theft: At 5:27 p.m., Jared Blank reported that sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and removed property.

Theft: At 6:16 p.m., Sherry Redding reported that unknown person(s) removed property from her residence without permission.

Jan. 4

Abduction/Obstructing Official Business/Drug Abuse: At 2:37 p.m., officers responded to an address on Eastern Avenue in reference to a report of a male who was preventing a female from exiting a vehicle they were both in, and that the male possibly had a firearm. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the occupants. After investigation, the male identified as Paul B. Gatewood was taken into custody. A BB handgun and drugs were recovered. Gatewood was charged with the listed offenses.
