Two Washington C.H. men were recently indicted by a Fayette County grand jury for allegedly trafficking in a substantial amount of drugs.

In two unrelated cases, Scott M. Angeletti, 25, of 920.5 E. Market St., and Buddy L. Evans, 39, of 1208 Rawling St., were arraigned Nov. 19 in Fayette County Common Pleas Court.

Angeletti is facing fourth-degree felony aggravated trafficking in drugs and fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs charges, and Evans is facing third-degree felony aggravated trafficking in drugs and fifth-degree felony possession of drugs counts.

On July 1, the Washington Police Department received a complaint on a stolen wallet, and the suspect was identified as Angeletti, according to reports. An officer located him walking near East Market Street and made contact with him.

Reports said Angeletti agreed to be searched for the missing wallet. A handgun case, as well as a partial box of shells, were found inside the backpack he was carrying, according to police. Officers said they noticed a bulge in the front of Angeletti’s shirt and asked him to lift his shirt.

Angeletti reportedly complied, but when asked about the object tucked in his waistband, he pulled his shirt down and attempted to turn away. He was then restrained, and the object was found to be a small green case containing small baggies of what appeared to be methamphetamine, according to police. Several of these bags were packaged as if for sale.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation positively identified the drugs as meth.

In the case against Evans, police received information that drugs were being sold from the residence at 418 S. Fayette St. Following investigation, on July 24 officers served a search warrant at the home. While approaching the residence, a man exited the front door. Reports said he was ordered to the ground and complied.

A small baggie containing suspected narcotics was found on the porch area where the man was observed.

Once inside the residence, officers searched Evans and found a large sum of money divided into two bundles. “This currency was later compared to money that had been used by a reliable confidential informant to purchase narcotics” from Evans, police said. It is believed that Evans disposed of the majority of his drugs as police approached the home, according to reports.

Both men have bonded out of the Fayette County Jail. Angeletti is scheduled to go to trial on Feb. 7, and Evans on April 4.
