Fayette Pharmacy sold to local family

Last week, the sale of Fayette Pharmacy from REM Corporation to Rod and Hannah Banks was finalized.

The Banks live in Greenfield, and Rod Banks previously worked at Fayette Pharmacy as a pharmacy manager for two-and-a-half years. Banks then went on to work as director of operations at REM Corporation where he oversaw 20 stores. He worked in this position for about two years before the company decided to downsize and started selling stores.

Banks then started talking with the company about buying Fayette Pharmacy because “having worked here for two-and-a-half years, just getting to know the people I was looking forward to getting back in it. I always wanted to come back to the area.”

Banks said the pharmacy’s goal is to “get back to basics, focus on pharmacy” and “not focus on gifting and all that,” adding, “Getting away from all the gifting kinda allows us to focus on all the services that a lot of the chains don’t offer.”

These services include delivery, dose-packaging, med-syncing — which allows patients who must refill multiple medications every month to refill them all on the same day — and Meds to Beds, which involves bringing medications to patients in the hospital as they are being discharged so “they can basically leave the hospital and go right home. They don’t need to stop anywhere,” according to Banks.

Around Labor Day, the pharmacy moved from 1122 Columbus Ave. to 1500 Columbus Ave. in Washington C.H.

“We’re really, really excited about our new location,” said Banks, who added, “the patients have been really receptive of our new location, we get lots of compliments on the new building.”

Banks said the pharmacy “is all about serving the community” and that he is “looking forward to everyone stopping in and checking us out.”
