WILMINGTON — There will be a musical celebration for veterans and first responders (EMS, law enforcement, and fire department members) at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 in the Wilmington Church of Christ.

No admission is charged, and men and women who live in Clinton, Fayette and Highland counties will be honored.

This is the sixth year the Unified Christian Men’s Chorus has given this concert. This year, they will be joined by a ladies’ group named the “Boogie Woogie Bugle Girls,” as well as the Hitchhikers Band and the Clinton-Massie Middle School choir.

During the 90-minute program, all current and past first responders as well as all veterans will be recognized.

The honoree for the program this year will be Major Floyd “Mac” McCray. He served in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, the Korean War, and during the “Cold War.”

In addition, McCray was an early advocate for the project to build the Highland County Veterans Memorial in Hillsboro.

“We encourage you to be part of this patriotic event to honor those who have served as well as those who are still currently serving our country and communities,” a spokesperson stated.

The church is located at 909 W. Locust St. in Wilmington.
