Lions to hold annual tailgate party Nov. 27

The Washington Court House and Jeffersonville Lions clubs will be holding their annual fundraising Ohio State Buckeyes versus Michigan tailgate party on Nov. 27.

The tailgate party will begin at 6 p.m. at the Mahan Building on the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The two groups are encouraging everyone to attend and bring friends and family. At this Washington and Jeffersonville Lions’ yearly fundraising event, there will be tailgate food, snacks, drinks at the cash bar, trivia and games of chance. There will also be a silent auction and a live auction with dynamic auctioneer Jason Langley.

Along with the $20 dinner for adults and $5 for kids, patrons can buy chances on raffle tickets with five great prizes up for grabs. The winner need not be present to win. Additionally, the event will have speaker Harold “Champ” Henson, which has been a year in the making.

Henson played OSU football with Archie Griffin and under coach Woody Hayes for three years, leading the nation in scoring in 1972, and was a fourth round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings. Now, Champ is a commissioner in Pickaway County and owns and operates Henson Family Farm Market, known for sweet corn, fruits and vegetables. Henson lives with his wife, Karen, and has three children, Clayton, Colton, and Cassidy.

All this makes for a great evening, but the Lions said they cannot do it alone. They said they hope residents can come and support local Lions Clubs, which give back in charitable donations to sight saving causes and to the county food banks. The clubs encourage the community to get tickets soon so they can plan accordingly.

Tickets can be purchased from any Lion or by calling Lion John Rhoad at (740) 335-4588 or Lion Jay Carey at (740) 335-1107. The Lions also encourage the community to watch for more ads and information in the coming weeks. They said they hope to see everyone at the tailgate party.
