LIFE Pregnancy Center celebrates ‘National Pregnancy Center Week’

A resolution was just introduced in both the U.S. Senate and Congress commending the important work pregnancy help organizations all over the United States do on a daily basis. They designated Nov. 9-13 as “National Pregnancy Center Week.”

The resolution calls attention to the community-based nature of pregnancy centers, which provide support to women and men during an unexpected pregnancy.

The LIFE Pregnancy Center in Fayette County is one of the 2,500 pregnancy centers across America and a Heartbeat International affiliate. Heartbeat International is a non-profit organization based out of Columbus, Ohio, which equips and advances life-affirming pregnancy help centers, worldwide. Heartbeat International President Peggy Hartshorn, Ph.D commented on the resolution, “Pregnancy help centers and the people behind them are there to provide every woman with compassionate support and real choice. Every woman deserves love and support during an unexpected pregnancy. It is such a privilege to see our elected officials in Washington agree with us that pregnancy centers are good for America.”

Barbara Fox, LIFE Pregnancy Center director, reports, “The center makes a definite and lasting impact on families in Fayette County and the surrounding area. In collaboration with governmental and social concern agencies in our city, our organization addresses the multi-dimensional needs of a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. For 15 years the center has given pregnancy and parenting assistance primarily through education and resources. We offer helpful solutions with a ‘hand up’ philosophy to new parents in difficult circumstances and hope to change lives for the better.”

Fox gratefully acknowledges the tremendous community support throughout the organizational history. She added, “We have grown from a resource center to a medical center status, offering limited ultrasound examinations, because our supporters care deeply about our moms and precious unborn babies.”

The center recently relocated its office to 314 East Court St. in Washington C.H. and continues to offer confidential care at no cost.

With the hopes of expanding programs and services in the future, LIFE Pregnancy Center initiated the Hearts and Hands of Hope Campaign in an effort to acquire capital monies for a new facility. Contributions are now being accepted for this campaign drive.
