With October coming to its end, annual Trick-Or-Treat events will be held around Fayette County this Thursday and during the weekend.

Beggars’ Night within the City of Washington Court House will be held this Thursday, Oct. 25. According to City Manager Joe Denen, trick-or-treaters may start collecting door-to-door at 6 p.m.

“On the night of Trick-or-Treat, you have a lot of young kids out, dressed in costumes, so a bit before 6 p.m. and for a while after 8 o’clock, we just need to be careful how we drive around town,” Denen said during an interview recently. “Especially in the residential neighborhoods. Those kids are excited and you just need to exercise a little bit of caution when driving.”

Other “Trick-Or-Treat” celebrations will be held around the community as well on Thursday. The Village of Jeffersonville, the Village of Milledgeville, and the Village of New Holland will hold their respective Beggars’ Night from 6 to 8 p.m. within village limits. The Village of Bloomingburg will also hold its Beggars’ Night on Thursday but only from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Currently, the forecast for Thursday is mostly sunny with the exception of a few afternoon clouds into overcast skies later during the night. The high temperature is currently expected around 52 degrees and the low could drop to 38 degrees. Additionally, expect winds to blow anywhere from five to 15 miles per hour.

Finally, on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue will be in the village to assist with slowing traffic for children to cross the roads during the evening to gather candy from around Good Hope. Residents are urged to participate.

Also during the day will be the first Wayne Township Fire Association Fish Fry before Beggars’ Night begins. Meals are available for a donation and will be $8 for the fish dinner, which includes a fish sandwich, choice of two sides and a choice of drink, $6 for a fish sandwich, and $3 for a kids meal, which includes a hot dog or fish sandwich and a choice of side. The fish fry will be located at the Good Hope Town Hall across from the firehouse from 12 to 5 p.m. Follow Wayne TWP Volunteer Fire Rescue on Facebook for a full menu.
