A Washington C.H. woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle on Saturday while in possession of heroin and cocaine.

Rebecca J. Hedges, 20, of 508 Campbell St., has been charged with two felony counts of receiving stolen property, felony counts of possession of heroin and possession of cocaine, a felony count of tampering with evidence, and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Saturday at 4:52 p.m., a Washington C.H. man reported to police that his gold 1997 Buick LeSabre and wallet were stolen from his home at 726 Pearl St., according to reports. The victim said that Hedges had been at his residence and when he came out of the bathroom, she had departed with his wallet and keys that were on his table, and his vehicle that was parked in front of his home.

Shortly after the report was taken, a Washington C.H. Police Department officer located the vehicle in front of 408 S. Main St., police said. The officer approached Hedges as she was reportedly entering the vehicle. During that time, she allegedly attempted to put the victim’s wallet under a shirt on the rear driver’s side floorboard.

Hedges also reportedly told police that she had borrowed the vehicle.

She was placed under arrest on receiving stolen property charges for taking the vehicle and the wallet, according to reports. During a search of her purse and the vehicle, police found heroin, cocaine, drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, reports said.

Hedges is being held in the Fayette County Jail on an $18,500 bond.
