The Washington Shrine Club will be holding a raffle over the next several months for a motorcycle that will be drawn for at the Southern Ohio Buckeye Bike Rally (SOBBR).

The SOBBR has been scheduled for Aug. 14 and 15 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The event is organized and sponsored by Red’s Custom Cycle, Court House Custom and Jimmy Chicken Man.

The gates will open at noon on Aug. 14 for camping and all vendors and entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. Weekend passes will be available for $10 and primitive camping is available for an additional $10.

“The Shrine Club will be raffling off an orange 2012 Harley Davidson Superglide motorcycle on August 15, during the Buckeye Bike Rally, at 5 p.m. as our first prize of the raffle,” Shrine Club President Sonny Kearns said Friday during an interview. “We will also be drawing for a second prize of $1,000 and third prize of $500. All of the money we are able to raise will be to benefit the Shrine Club and Shriner Hospitals. We really encourage people to buy a ticket and have a chance at winning a motorcycle.”

Tickets are $50 a piece and can be purchased from Washington Shrine Club members. They can also be purchased from Detty’s Market in Jeffersonville and Doug Marine Motors, Hartley Oil and Red’s Custom Cycle in Washington Court House. The bike can also be viewed during the next few months. It will be on the move and currently has been scheduled to appear at Streetside 62, The Rusty Keg and Pour Boys Brewhouse with additional locations and benefits to be announced. Questions about the raffle can be directed toward Kearns at (740) 505-5431.

“Both Court House Customs and Red’s will have booths at the event and we are hoping to make this a yearly event that benefits those vets who have fought for our freedom,” D.J. Jenkins, event organizer and co-owner of Court House Customs said. “All money after expenses will go straight to organizations that benefit vets. We hope everyone will want to come out and enjoy an awesome event and help to give back to the vets that have given so much for us. You must be at least 21 to enter and we want to invite all of the county and biker communities to the event.”

Currently nine different entertainers have all agreed to come to the event, including Apt. B, Luvalik, Opal Justice, Subterranean Feedback and more. Additionally, food will be available from Pour Boys, J’s Corner Cafe and others, and custom bike builders will also be at the event. Plenty of parts vendors and swap meet style vendors will be available as well.

Any questions can be directed to Gary at (740) 335-3648 or Kristi Lynch at (740) 606-2785, or if interested in participating as a vendor (only motorcycle-related product vendors), contact D.J. Jenkins at (740) 335-2466. Stay with the Record-Herald as the event is updated for more information.
