A one-vehicle accident Friday involving two Miami Trace High School students resulted in both being transported to the hospital.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one-vehicle injury traffic crash Friday afternoon on Lewis Road near State Route 38 Northeast in Union Township. The call was received at 3 p.m.

According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, a 2003 Buick Regal driven by Corey Olley, 16 of Jeffersonville, was traveling southeast on Lewis Road and failed to negotiate a left curve, losing control of the vehicle. Olley traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in a soybean field. He was transported from the scene by Fayette County EMS to the Fayette County Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

A passenger in Olley’s vehicle, identified as Colten Sword, 17 of Mt. Sterling, was also injured in the crash and was flown from the scene by Med-Flight to a Columbus area hospital for medical treatment.

Members of the Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit are continuing their investigation of the accident and no charges have been filed at this time. Also assisting at the scene were members of the Sheriff’s Rescue Unit and the Washington Fire Department.

Both students are juniors and football players at Miami Trace High School.
