Update: At 7:45 a.m. Washington City Schools were closed.

Schools throughout Fayette County announced closures and delays Monday, Jan. 8, due to icy road conditions.

Miami Trace Local Schools are closed.

Fayette Christian School is closed Monday.

Southern State Community College campus is closed.

At 6 a.m. Washington City Schools were placed on a two hour delay Monday with no morning preschool.

At 7:31 am high school classes at all four Great Oaks campuses (Diamond, Laurel, Live and Scarlet) were closed.

Fayette County is under a level one winter weather advisory.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a winter weather advisory for Fayette County and surrounding areas beginning 6 a.m. Monday.

The weather service reports that mixed precipitation of snow, sleet, and freezing rain in the forecast until 2:00 p.m. will make travel difficult.
