Longtime publishing and advertising executive Randy Graf has been named publisher of the Wilmington News Journal and regional publisher for the Civitas Southwest Ohio Group, which includes the News Journal, Washington Court House Record Herald, The (Hillsboro) Times-Gazette, and Greene County publications (Xenia, Fairborn, Beavercreek, Bellbrook).

Graf replaces Pam Stricker, who recently accepted the role of publisher of The Lima News. The announcement was made this week by Nick Monico, director of Civitas Ohio.

Graf most recently served as vice president with Worldwide Media Services, a New York media placement company specializing in the youth market. Graf was responsible for general market placement in the United States and more than 224 countries around the world.

A native of Wisconsin, he began his career as advertising director for the Post-Crescent newspaper in Appleton, Wisconsin, later becoming president and CEO of the Central Wisconsin newspaper group for Thomson Newspapers.

“I have worked with Randy in the past, and he is a high-energy manager and innovator with creative ideas and a love for the newspaper industry,” said Monico. “He understands and embraces the new media platforms that are becoming increasingly important to our industry. He knows local newspapers and the important role they play in the success of our communities, both for readers and advertisers. He will be a great fit for the strong group of properties that make up our southwest Ohio region.”

“I’m very excited about this opportunity and about joining a talented and successful staff in Wilmington and across the southwest region,’ said Graf. “I look forward to becoming part of the community and working closely with local leaders, businesses and organizations.”

Graf is the father of three children.
