A Washington C.H. man who allegedly forced his way into an Eastern Avenue home, assaulted a resident then resisted arrest by assaulting police officers is being held in the Fayette County Jail on multiple counts.

Ty C. Brannon, 40, of 512 Eastern Ave., has been charged with first-degree felony aggravated burglary, two counts of fourth-degree felony assault on a police officer, fourth-degree felony parole violation, and misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing, assault, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest.

On the morning of Sunday, Aug. 6, two Washington C.H. Police Department officers were dispatched to 411 Eastern Ave. in reference to an assault and burglary, according to reports. The female complainant told the officers that Brannon had entered her home and assaulted the 33-year-old male resident of the home. The female resident also said that Brannon then departed and threatened to come back with a gun, reports said.

As officers were at the residence investigating, Brannon reportedly returned in a vehicle with his girlfriend. Police asked Brannon to step out of the vehicle, but he allegedly hesitated. After several orders from police, Brannon did get out of the vehicle.

“I then instructed Ty to face the car, and attempted to place him into handcuffs to detain him until officers could determine what happened,” Officer Kevin Shoopman wrote in his report. “Ty then pulled away and refused to cooperate.”

Patrolman Charles Hughes then utilized the taser in a “drive stun technique,” but Brannon was able to pull away from officers and attempted twice to punch Hughes, according to reports. Brannon then allegedly turned and tried to kick Shoopman in the groin. While Brannon was facing Shoopman, Hughes was able to put the cartridge back on the taser and deploy the darts, which struck Brannon in the back.

After Brannon fell to the ground, he was handcuffed and held down by Hughes and Shoopman. Shoopman then immediately called for a squad, according to reports.

While waiting for the squad and a deputy to assist with transporting Brannon, he allegedly rolled to his side and individually threatened to kill both officers after he got out of jail.

Brannon is being held on a $65,500 bond.
