On behalf of the Fayette County vendors and market community, a big THANK YOU to the Fayette County Farm Bureau for its season long sponsorship of the Fayette County Farmers’ Market “Children Love the Market.”
Through the Farm Bureau’s support, the Market has been able to provide one or two weekly activities for children focusing on taste testing and agricultural/nature-themed crafting. Farm Bureau members are eligible to receive a $5 coupon at each and every Market venue for the rest of the season (through Oct. 21) by stopping in at the info booth. Members may also purchase Market t-shirts and shopping bags with a $2 discount.
The Market is open every Saturday morning from 8:30 to noon and is located in the municipal parking lot on the corner of South Main and East East streets in Washington C.H. SNAP EBT food benefit cards, Senior Farm Market coupons and credit/debit cards are accepted—stop by the FM “Info and Children’s Booth” (beside the Sunshine Cleaners) for assistance. Those using the SNAP EBT card for produce receive matching dollar VeggieSNAP tokens ($1 for $1) for additional fruits and vegetables. So,”buy one, get one” for fruit and vegetables, up to $10 EVERY market day.
The following list contains the names and products of the vendors that expect to set up for the Saturday Market. Other vendors may participate as well.
Greens & Greenery (Katrina Bush): Baklava (walnut and honey pastry) and “better than good” buckeyes. Fresh dried herbs (basil, sacred basil, sage, parsley), Matt’s Wild Cherry tomatoes, eggplant, okra, pickling cucumbers, tomatillos, sweet and hot peppers.
Jones Farm Fresh Produce (Jon & Taylor Jones): Green beans, red potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, bell peppers, pork chops, sausage patties, ground pork, sweet Italian links, jalapeño links and chicken breast.
Keypoint Farm (Nevin Stauffer & family): Seasonal produce.
King Farms (Jeff and Sandi King): Green beans, red and Yukon potatoes, cherry and grade tomatoes, beets and onions.
Persinger Produce & Cottage Food (David Persinger and Julie Mosny): Pies, cinni mini’s pecan sticky buns, cinnamon rolls and apple dumplings. The Jam Man returns with jams and jellies.
Tom’s Tool Shed (Tom McMurray): Tool sharpening (hand tools, mower blades, axes, garden tools) for a small fee.
This and That (Mary Ford): Garden and home crafts (summer goose dresses, coasters, mug rugs, aprons, OSU items, jewelry), baked goods (apple butter bread, PB fudge).
Wood by DW (Debbie Welch): Wood primitives and sewn kitchen crafts.
Your Other Mother’s Kitchen (Don and Sara Creamer): Artisan breads, whole wheat brownie tarts, and bran muffin tops.
B.Y.E Gardens (Brian and Elaine Yoder): Tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, candy onions, bell peppers, sweet corn, popcorn, cinnamon rolls, strawberry bread, peanut butter cookies, lemon cookies, strawberry cookies, cold drinks.
Chilcote Farm (Bruce & Marlene Chilcote): Texas sheet cake, cookies and sweet corn.
Dale’s Crafts (Dale Butler): rustic benches, red, white, & blue benches, swinging chair, Uncle Sam, serving trays, outdoor games (washer toss, corn hole bags and boards, yard yahtzee), Adirondack chair.
DeBruin Family Dairy (Grant and Toni DeBruin): Gourds, herbs, organic butter, lettuce, wildflower cards, and chocolate chip cookies.
Engedi (Beth Day, Alana Walters, Janet Bick): Assorted home baked goods (cinnamon rolls, bread, yeast rolls, cookies, pies, brownies, cobblers, whoopie pies,small specialty bread), Icees, and a children’s activity.
Gerhardts (Kevin Gerhardt): Cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, tomatoes, cucumbers and white sweet corn.
