Elementary teachers: Stock your bookshelves

Beginning this Friday, teachers in elementary schools in every one of the eight counties served by Goodwill Industries of South Central Ohio are invited to visit their local store to pick up to 10 books for their classrooms, free of charge.

“We know teachers can be strapped to provide reading materials for their students, so we at Goodwill felt this was a good way to give back to our communities and our youngest citizens,” said CEO Marvin Jones. “We receive thousands of books each year from our generous donors so what better way to recycle those that that are age-appropriate by getting them into the classrooms for the teachers to help their students with their reading skills.”

To receive the books, teachers will need to show some form of proof of their employment at a school. The books will be available in a special area of each store so that the teachers can find the ones they feel are best for their students. The books are on a first-come, first-serve basis and the promotion will end when all of the books are gone. No purchase is required.

All Goodwill stores are open 9-7 Monday through Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday. Stores are in Chillicothe, Circleville, Waverly, Washington Court House, Jackson, McArthur, Athens and Logan.
