County begins ‘Stuff the Bus’ campaign

Do you remember the first day of school? New pencils, new crayons, new folders and a new start.

Unfortunately, not all Fayette County children have that same feeling and most struggle to get those items on that school supply list. United Way of Fayette County said that residents can change that and can make a difference.

United Way is asking the community to drop off donated school supplies in the collection bins throughout the county as part of its annual “Stuff the Bus Campaign.” Donations will be distributed to Washington City Schools, Miami Trace Local Schools, Head Start and Starting Gate. Stuff the Bus campaign started July 24 and runs through Aug. 6.

Collection bins can be found at Carnegie Library, Court House Chiropractic, Crop Production Services, Fayette County Memorial Hospital, the Fayette County Courthouse, Fifth Third Bank, First State Bank, Four Seasons, LCNB, Merchants National Bank, the Record-Herald, SugarCreek Packing, Thompson Orthodontics, US Bank, Valero Renewable Fuels, Walgreen’s, Wal-Mart DC 7012, WCH City Building and YUSA.

The Walmart store will host a Stuff the Bus event Aug. 4-6 (Tax Free Weekend).
