A case was dismissed Monday in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas for a 26-year-old woman who was found dead Thursday near Mt. Sterling.

The woman, identified as Kelsey J. Maynard, was found on the side of State Route 323 SE. A cause of death has not been released. Her parents reportedly said it was not unusual for her to walk in the area.

Maynard was scheduled to appear in court Monday for a hearing on a motion for Intervention in Lieu of Conviction (ILC).

Maynard was in a car in the Walmart parking lot last May when she overdosed and was brought back to life with Narcan, according to court records. She was later indicted on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

According to the Fayette County Adult Probation Department, Maynard had been clean on drug screens since last May and a report had been drafted for Monday’s hearing recommending to the court that Maynard be placed into the ILC program.
