Spring is still more than a month away, so for most kids it’s not time for vacation yet. But with weather temperatures unusually warm this February, according to the National Weather Service, locals can expect to warm up to 60 degrees this weekend.

Warmer weekend weather will complement activities, events and performances scheduled across the county and state. With little planning and money, a “staycation,” defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as a vacation spent at home or nearby, is possible: there are many events nearby this weekend that are free or offer reasonably priced tickets.

— In Washington Court House this weekend, performing arts students at Washington Middle School will take to the stage as they perform a classic production of the Wizard of Oz.

Held at the historic Washington Middle School auditorium Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for kids and seniors.

— Chillicothe’s Majestic Theatre is hosting the Musician’s Workshop this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free. Singers, musicians and spectators are welcome to join.

— Bengal cats and their owners will be at the Robert’s Centre in Wilmington all weekend for the International Cat Association Cat Show. This all-ages event has a cost of $4 for entry. The show begins at 9 a.m.

— Cincinnati ArtsWave is offering 90 events throughout 18 neighborhoods.. Free hands-on activities and performances for children are scheduled throughout the weekend at places such as Memorial Hall, the Cincinnati Art Museum, Playhouse in the Park and the Taft Museum of Art.
