According to reports, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

Feb. 6

Missing Person: Thomas Neff of Jeffersonville reported a subject missing. Deputies later located the subject, who was determined to be safe.

Feb. 5

Fatal Crash: The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred Sunday morning in the 10000 block of Danville Road in northern Fayette County. The crash was reported at 5:31 a.m. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, a 2005 Cadillac operated by Tyler R. Wrobel, 21, of Bloomingburg, was traveling north on Danville Road and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle traveled off both sides of the roadway during the course of the crash and rolled multiple times before coming to rest. Wrobel was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Wrobel was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The vehicle sustained heavy damage during the crash and was towed from the scene. Members of the Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation. Also responding to the scene were members of the Fayette County EMS, Bloomingburg Fire Department, and the Sheriff’s Rescue Unit.

Domestic Violence/Criminal Damaging: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Woodsview Drive on a domestic incident. Upon arrival, Linsey Matson advised a male subject had caused damage to the window of her vehicle and assaulted her. Christopher Matson of Jeffersonville was arrested and charged in the matter.

Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Trespass: Tracy Bradley of Washington C.H. reported that a known male was at her residence and used her vehicle without her permission. Bradley declined to pursue charges.

Theft/Possession of Criminal Tools: Employees from Old Navy reported a theft by two males. Deputies located the subjects on the lot of Tanger, and were in possession of numerous items of clothing. Jason Stiffler of Blacklick, Ohio and Michael Riggle of Reynoldsburg, Ohio were charged in the incident.

Criminal Damaging: An inmate at the Fayette County Jail caused damage by breaking a window. Cody Moore of Washington C.H. was charged in the incident.

Feb. 4

Drug Abuse: While on a traffic stop on Route 41 near Flying J, deputies located marijuana inside the vehicle. Cody Freeman and Kaitlin Bussey of South Charleston were cited in the incident.

Theft: Employees from Polo Ralph Lauren reported unknown person(s) concealed several items of clothing and departed the store without paying for the property.

Naloxone Use: Deputies responded to the Shell Station on Court Street on a report of an unresponsive male. The victim was administered Naloxone before being transported by EMS to the hospital.

Traffic Crash: Phi Tchi of Elkgrove, Calif. was operating a semi on Walnut Street in Jeffersonville and attempted to turn onto Fawkes Street. Tchi traveled off the left side of the road, causing sod damage. Tchi was cited for failure to stay in marked lanes.

Feb. 3

Traffic Crash: Kyle Maust of Washington C.H. was driving on Reynolds Road and failed to stop for a stop sign at Palmer Road. Maust traveled off the roadway into a private yard. He was cited for failure to control. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

Aggravated Trafficking: While on a traffic stop on Route 35 near Route 435, deputies located suspected narcotics inside the vehicle. Nathan Wilson of Washington C.H. was charged in the incident.

Traffic Crash: Damian Paxton of Burton, Mich. struck a semi while backing into a parking space at the Travel Center of America.

Deceased: Deputies were dispatched to Leslie Trace Road on a report of a deceased male. It was determined the male died of natural causes.

Theft: Deputies were dispatched to the Fayette County Fairgrounds on a litter complaint. Faith Cottrill reported Zach Tackett of Clarksburg, Ohio placed trash in the dumpster. Deputies made contact with Tackett to advise him of the complaint. The fair board declined to pursue criminal charges.

Wanted Person: While conducting a traffic stop on Elm Street in Washington C.H., deputies discovered the driver had an active warrant for his arrest. Ricky Darthard of Columbus was arrested in the incident.

Feb. 2

Obstructing Official Business: While deputies were conducting a traffic stop on High Street in Jeffersonville, it was determined the driver had an active arrest warrant. The driver fled on foot and the investigation is pending.

Theft/Telephone Harassment: Olivia Pack of Washington C.H. reported that during an online transaction she was sent a large sum on money that was determined to be fraudulent checks.

Feb. 1

Theft: Employees reported on Jan. 31 that a male subject removed merchandise from the store without paying.

Deceased: Deputies and EMS responded to the residence of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, EMS determined the victim was deceased and the coroner was called to the scene.

Traffic Crash: Cassandra White, of Wilksville, Ohio, reported she was eastbound on U.S. 35 when she said a deer entered the roadway. White reported she lost control of the vehicle when she swerved to avoid the deer. She then traveled off the right side of the roadway, where she struck a sign post, causing damage to the right front and windshield of the vehicle. White said the crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m., but she did not report the crash until 8:32 a.m.

Theft/Criminal Trespass: Linda Kidder reported overnight that someone entered two of her vehicles while they were parked outside her residence and removed property.

Protection Order Service: Deputies served a respondent with a civil protection order.

Traffic Crash: Gabriella Sturgill, of Washington C.H., reported she was eastbound on U.S. 22 when she failed to observe another vehicle, driven by Kathleen Barrett, of Martinsville, slowing to turn onto the U.S. 35 Access Road. Sturgill’s vehicle then struck the rear of Barrett’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. Sturgill was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

Jan. 31

Domestic Violence/Assault: Two juveniles were reported to have been in a physical altercation with another subject. Prosecution was declined. No injuries were observed by deputies.

Protection Order Service: Sheriff’s deputies made contact with a respondent listed in a protection order. The guidelines of the order and the consequences of any violations were advised.

Drug Abuse/Naloxone: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Market Street in Bloomingburg with EMS on reports of an unresponsive male. During the incident, drug paraphernalia was located. James Bryant of Bloomingburg was issued a summons for his appearance in court.

Burglary/Theft: Zebulon Workman of Bloomingburg reported person(s) unknown entered his residence and removed property.

Telephone Harrassment: Becky Costilow of Washington C.H. reported receiving unwanted text messages and phone calls from a known subject. Contact was made with the subject, advising to cease all contact.

Drug Paraphernalia: Aaron Kosanke of Jeffersonville was checked while walking in the Village of Jeffersonville. While deputies were speaking to Kosanke, he dropped a glass pipe on the ground. He was charged.

Menacing by Stalking: Becky Costilow of Washington C.H. reported that she received numerous phone calls from a known male.

Jan. 30

Theft: Robert Johnson, of Bloomingburg, reported overnight that someone entered his vehicle that was parked outside his residence, and removed property.

Traffic Crash: Joseph Heiman of Washington C.H. was traveling north on Lewis Road and lost control of his vehicle. Heiman traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. He was transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Possessing Drug Abuse Instruments: Sheriff’s deputies responded to North Main Street in Jeffersonville on a possible overdose. During the incident, a hypodermic syringe was located. Darrin Tyree of Jeffersonville was issued a summons for his appearance in court.

Criminal Damaging: Employees of Gusweiler Toyota reported over the weekend that someone broke out a window on one of their vehicles. The vehicle was un-entered and nothing was taken.

Criminal Mischief: Employees of Jeffersonville Green Apartments reported over the weekend that someone removed several boards from a privacy fence on the grounds.

Jan. 29

Domestic Dispute: A female reported being involved in an argument with her boyfriend. Both parties were located and denied any threats or physical altercations during their argument.
