According to reports, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

Jan. 20

Burglary/Theft: Ashton Morris reported forced entry into a residence.

Assault: Brandy Davis of Bloomingburg reported being assaulted by a known subject, however refused prosecution.

Traffic Crash: An accident occurred when a 17-year-old driver failed to observe a vehicle slowing for a stop sign on US 62 and struck the rear of the other vehicle. No injuries were reported. The juvenile driver was issued a citation for assured clear distance ahead.

Jan. 19

Theft/Criminal Trespass: Milton Bowens of Louisville, Ky. reported person(s) unknown siphoned fuel from his semi-tractor while parked at Baymont Inn.

Assault: Meghan Spears of Washington C.H. reported that while in a verbal altercation, she was assaulted. Joshua Ely, Chelsey Gordon and Shelby Travis of Washington C.H. were arrested and charged in the matter.

Theft: Donald Bennett of Washington C.H. reported person(s) unknown removed tools from his unlocked work truck.

Fatal Traffic Crash: The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal traffic crash Thursday afternoon on State Route 753 southeast just north of Hukill Road in Wayne Township. The crash was reported at 1:34 p.m. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer operated by Alison R. Wylie, 25, of Greenfield, was southbound on State Route 753 and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The crash investigation revealed that Wylie over-corrected and lost control, traveling off the right side of the roadway and overturned before coming to rest. It was determined that Wylie was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Wylie was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. Members of the Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit were called to the scene and are conducting the investigation. Also assisting at the scene were members of the Paint Creek Fire Department, Fayette County EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Sheriff’s Rescue Unit.

Jan. 17

Theft: American Eagle reported several females entered the business and departed with merchandise without making payment.

Conveyance of Drugs: Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Fayette County Jail on reports of an inmate who conveyed drugs into the facility. The inmate was transported to a medical facility where she surrendered the drugs.

Domestic Dispute: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Old US 38 on a domestic incident. Upon arrival, all parties involved were identified and it was determined that no assault or threats of violence had occurred.

Jan. 16

Traffic Crash: Donald Kier of Leesburg was traveling north on Greenfield Sabina Road. Kier traveled off the left side of the roadway into the ditch and struck a sign post. Kier was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash. Kier was arrested and issued a citation for failure to control.
