The third meeting of the Charm-N-Farm 4-H club was held on Dec. 28 at St. Colman Parish Center.

President Clare Sollars called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. Pledges were led by Courtney Arnold and Therese Robinson.

The club was joined by guest speaker Ms. Abby Stahl Molenda. Ms. Molenda graduated from Washington High School in 2000 and currently works for the University of Illinois, Chicago. She holds a PHD and a doctorate in French literature. She has taught English in France, and currently works to promote learning a foreign language. She talked to the club about the importance of learning a foreign language, as well as some of the interests of French culture.

Under officer reports, treasurer Spencer Minyo reported the balance of the club, and community service officer Therese Robinson reported on the club’s community service project. Under old business, President Clare Sollars reminded the club that enrollment forms and club dues were due. Under new business, advisors Mary Kay Sollars, Bridget Sollars, and Mindy Callahan conducted officer induction. In the advisor’s corner, the club was reminded that Junior Superintendent Applications were due on Jan. 20.

Trevor Minyo moved to adjourn the meeting and Spencer Minyo seconded. For recreation, the club held a “Noel Francais.” The club’s next meeting will be Jan. 15 at 12 p.m. at St. Colman Parish Center.
