Parade and activities coming Sunday

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is reminding the community to attend the 2016 Holiday parade scheduled for this Sunday in downtown Washington Court House. This year, the parade is following a new path.

The parade will begin lining up at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital at 3 p.m. and will make its way downtown. Deviating from the usual path, the parade will not be turning onto Hinde Street as it has done in the past. The new path will instead take the parade further on Court Street, turning and ending on Circle Avenue.

Additionally, organizers are encouraging residents to visit downtown early, beginning at 11:30 a.m. for a series of free activities. Showplace Furniture, at 153 W. Court St., will host kids crafts, carriage rides will be held on North Main Street near the Gazebo, Two Scoops of Sugar will have cookie decorating at 249 East Court Street and finally Santa Claus will be visiting with children at the City Administration Building at 105 N. Main St.

For more information about the parade and other Chamber of Commerce activities, such as Decembers Mingle & Jingle held each Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., visit www.fayettecountyohio.com or call (740) 335-8008.

Eddie’s Run was one of many floats that participated in the 2015 parade. Pictured are the participants on that float. Organizers are encouraging the community to enjoy the parade and free activities on Sunday.
