The Fayette County Fair Board is inviting the community to join them as they “Ring in the New Year” with McGuffey Lane on Dec. 31.

The event will be held at the Mahan Building and tickets are $10 each. Patrons must be 21 to enter. A full service bar and food will be available with doors opening at 6 p.m. For groups wanting to come together, purchasing eight tickets will reserve a table. Solo performer John Schwab will begin at 8:30 p.m. and headliner McGuffey Lane will perform starting at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the fair office, at Doug Marine Motors and from senior fair board members.

“McGuffey Lane has a great following with a bunch of fans from northern and central Ohio, so they always bring a great crowd with them,” Doug Marine, vice president of the fair board, said. “It has been many years since anyone has had a New Year’s Eve party at the fairgrounds. We decided what better way to start into the tradition again then to have John Schwab and McGuffey Lane and our great sponsors to participate, and provide a venue for everyone to come out.”

Sponsors for the event are 3-C Cab, Collins Septic, Vermeer, Bumpus Trucking 3-C Towing Llc., Mid-State Electric, Hartley Oil Company, The Print Shop, A-1 Building Co., Parrett Insurance Agency, Inc., and Buckeye Propane. The ticket sponsor is Cottrill Seed Solutions.

Additionally, the Fayette County Agricultural Society will holds its annual raffle to raise money for building improvements on the grounds. This year, organizers said they hope that it will help toward renovating and updating restroom facilities in the barn areas of the fairgrounds. Tickets will be available in December and can be purchased at the fair office, from Ag Society directors, or at Doug Marine Motors.

Tickets are $50 each or three for $100. In an attempt to try some new prizes, this year’s grand prize is $20,000. The second prize is for $5,000. Numerous other prizes will be given away as well, including flat screen TVs, iPods and other smaller prizes. The drawing will be held on Feb. 11, 2017, when the Smokin’ Ham Band will perform during the event from 7 to 11 p.m., which also includes food and a cash bar. The raffle winners will be drawn at 9 p.m. and patrons must be 18-years-old to enter. Finally, organizers said that winners must be present to win the non-cash prizes.
