Roller Haven holds grand re-opening with new ownership

Roller Haven Fun Center, located at 1640 US 22 NW, celebrated the changing of the guard from one generation to the next at its grand re-opening Friday.

Fayette County Chamber of Commerce ambassadors were on hand to assist with the ribbon cutting.

The skating rink was established in 1948. Little did Vicki and Carl Staffan know that when they met there, in 1958, that they would fall in love and eventually come to own the business. The Staffans purchased the rink from Bucky Dumford in 1992 upon returning to Washington Court House after being involved in other businesses. The Staffans operated the rink together until Carl’s passing in 2008, after which time Vicki took over operations on her own.

Recently, Vicki’s son, James Staffan, who resides in New York City, purchased Roller Haven and became the new owner. He saw it as an opportunity for a good community investment and a chance to assist in his mother’s retirement. As an added bonus, he hired his sister, Michelle Bennett of Washington Court House, as director of operations at the rink.

The Staffan family is pleased to see the business stay in the family. James and Michelle look forward to bringing some new fresh ideas and maybe even some old ones back to Roller Haven. James and Michelle are also excited to continue to provide a safe, fun, family environment for kids of all ages in the community. Although Vicki is glad to take some time off and enjoy retirement, she will continue to participate in operations to assist in a smooth transition.

Debbie Davis will continue to work with Michelle as the manager at Roller Haven. Roller Haven is a great place for your next birthday party, fundraiser or company events with fun and affordable packages. The open session hours are:

Wednesday 6-8 p.m.

Friday 6-10 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons 1:30-4 p.m.

Saturday night 7:30-11:30 p.m.

“The Chamber congratulates the Staffan family. We are happy to see this family business continue to the next generation, and we wish Vicki well in her retirement,” said Chamber president Whitney Gentry.
