Head-on collision injures two

A two-vehicle head-on collision Friday evening on Worthington Road in Fayette County resulted in the injuries of two individuals.

The collision happened on Worthington Road just outside the Village of Staunton, according to Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth. Austin Payton, 18, of Greenfield Sabina Road, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck and reportedly traveled left of center.

Payton’s vehicle reportedly struck an oncoming pickup truck, driven by Donna Stacey of Worthington Road.

Following the crash, Payton was airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of his injuries. Stacey was transported by Fayette County EMS to Fayette County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The medical status of both individuals was unknown as of press time. According to Stanforth, the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
