Lowe benefit concert this Sunday

Organizers of the “Celebration of Danny Lowe’s Life” benefit concert to help the family with his medical expenses have opened an account to help raise even more funds.

Buck and Randy Caulley and Mariann Wright requested the use of the Historic Washington Middle School auditorium through an agenda item at the September meeting of the Washington City Schools Board of Education, which was approved.

The concert will be supplemented with an account at Merchants National Bank that will collect donations. Checks to the account should be made to the Danny Lowe Family Fund and can be sent to 128 S. North Street, Washington Court House, Ohio, 43160.

“There are already funds being raised with donations from people all around who knew Danny,” Wright said. “Additionally, during the event Streetside 62 will have drinks available, Culligan donated bottled water and Wendy’s donated cups. Channel 3 will also be recording the event to show the community. The outpouring of support has been amazing and we have been so blessed with all of the help. We hope the community will take time on Sunday to come celebrate an amazing life.”

The trio will hold the benefit concert this Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. A suggested donation is $10, but Wright said that those who want to give more are free to do so. Additionally, there will be a silent auction with donations from 30 donors and a 50/50 raffle that offers more ways for the community to give to the family of Lowe.

Currently 16 performances, which include 30 OT 6, Takin’ Back Summer, Danny’s daughters Becca and Katy Lowe, Andy Sheridan, Doug Joseph, Don Bailey, Becca Eggleton, Megan McCune and others, have agreed to play. For more information about the benefit or to donate items to the silent auction, call Wright at (740) 335-5222 or drop items off at the Washington Middle School Office with Alana Walters.

Lowe, 59, of Washington Court House, passed away Sept. 18 following a five-month battle with cancer. He was born June 2, 1957, in Columbus, to Virgil Ellis and Wanda Aileen Smith Lowe, and was a 1975 graduate of Miami Trace High School, as well as a lifelong resident of this community.

Lowe and his father formerly owned Lowe’s Crane and Lowe’s Welding, but he could be recognized for his personal business he owned and operated, Lowe Lighting & Sound, which served the community for over 40 years. Lowe provided sound, lighting and other services to schools, churches, fairgrounds and theaters across the state of Ohio. Whether for a pep rally, school musical, church production and more, Lowe could be spotted surrounded by his sound board and the rest of his equipment adding extra flare to any event he took on.

The obituary for Danny Lee Lowe from Kirkpatrick Funeral Home contributed to this article.
