‘Light Up The Night’ on Oct. 15

Runners and walkers are being sought for the Oct. 15 “Light Up the Night for LIFE – 5K.”

Starting at 6 p.m. that Saturday evening, entry fees are $15 if pre-registered before the day of the race, or $20 at the starting line. Five-K t-shirts are free if pre-registered, but will also be available for purchase that night.

The event will benefit the LIFE Pregnancy Center of Washington Court House.

Enjoy a fall evening as you walk or run through the course lined by Jack-o-lanterns created by local children. The starters pistol sets runners in motion promptly at 6 p.m. from the gazebo on the downtown courthouse grounds. The race then travels through the city and on the bike trail to Chrisman Park, then ends at the site of the new Pregnancy Center facility to be built on Fayette Street.

Organized and sponsored by Heritage Memorial Church, the race is for all ages and the entry fees go to benefit the center’s capital campaign fund to build a new medical facility to be used by the Pregnancy Center. Other donations are used to help fund services already offered to the local community, such as free ultrasounds and pregnancy testing; fetal development education; parenting education, abstinence education in our local schools; abortion recovery; as well as an upcoming father’s ministry.

“While donations of baby goods (diapers, clothes, etc.) are usually donated and are greatly welcomed,” said LIFE’s director Barbara Fox, “cash donations are much appreciated for the building fund as participation in events such as this 5K provide.”

Registration is now open and forms are available online at www.heritagewch.com/5k-registration/ or contact the Heritage Memorial Church Office at (740) 335-1079, or come by between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays at 1867 Old US 35 NW at Jamison Road.

For more information, call the church or email [email protected].
