What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

The Carnegie Public Library and Jeffersonville Library are now taking appointments for free tax preparation with AARP Tax Aide. Appointments are available in Washington Court House on Wednesdays through April 6 and in Jeffersonville on Thursdays through April 7.

AARP Tax Aide can prepare most simple returns. Please bring: 2014 tax return, a photo i.d. and social security card, W2 forms from all employers, all form 1099s, detailed list of charitable deductions, medical expenses, evidence of mortgage interest payments and real estate taxes, documentation of child care expenses, other applicable documents, and a check if you would like your tax return to be direct deposited. This Saturday, Jan. 30, children ages 5-10 are invited to our “Pirate Extravaganza” Arrrrr! Warm up by sailing the high seas of the warm Caribbean as a pirate! Learn how to be a pirate through stories, songs, and activities. Talk like a pirate, walk like a pirate, find treasure like a pirate! It is sure to be swashbuckling fun!

Coming up: March 3-5 is the Cabin Fever Book Sale! This sale takes place in the library meeting room; the library is accepting donations now.

Local certified health coach, Deb Rhoads, is hosting a series of “Light For My Path” discussions. These 20-minute talks are designed to provide food for thought for your mind, body, and spirit. Talks take place in the library meeting room on Thursdays at 1 p.m. Coming up on Feb. 4 Deb will present “You Gotta Move.”

Adults, join us for a no-commitment book club this year! The library hosts this meeting every other month and welcomes all readers. In 2016 we will focus on works of classic literature. On Thursday, March 10 at 5 p.m. we will meet to discuss Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Whether it is your first reading or your fifth, we would love to talk about this book with you! Meetings are held on the second floor by the fireplace. We hope to see you!

For kids: Coming up, Carnegie Library will host a special family storytime on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. Join us for stories, songs, crafts, and goodies! Children ages 2-5 and their families are welcome to “Stay Warm in February” with us! Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., is Preschool Storytime for children 4 – 6 years old and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., is Books & Blocks for children 1 – 3 years old. Siblings are welcome at either session. On Feb. 2 and 4 the theme is “I Can Use Colors!” Join us for these fun and dynamic early literacy programs!

In Jeffersonville: On Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. children ages 4 and up are invited to “F is for February!” Linda will be leading this fun decoupage workshop. Space is limited, register today! Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Feb. 2 will feature a “Groundhog Day” theme! Join us!
