September 22-28, 2019 was “Banned Books Week.” This annual event, first started in the 1980s, celebrates the freedom to read. During this week, libraries of all kind spotlight books, both historical and contemporary, that have been banned or challenged in libraries and schools. Along with numerous partners, the American Library Association promotes this week with a theme. This year’s theme is “Censorship Leaves Us in the Dark: Keep the Light On!” Interested in learning more about Banned Books Week? Check out www.bannedbooksweek.org, or stop by the library and check out our special display of frequently banned titles. Celebrate your right to read!

Adults: Fridays in October at 4 p.m., the new “Carnegie Cinema Club” will gather in the library meeting room to chat about old box office favorites, modern blockbusters, and new Netflix favorites. We can watch clips, reminisce and share suggestions with one another! Please call to register.
