Can you believe summer break is just a few weeks away? Our library staff has been busy for months, preparing a truly out of this world summer experience for you! Now known as “Library League,” we still have reading challenges and fantastic events for all ages. This year’s theme, “A Universe of Stories,” will take us to planets near and far through literature, STEM programs, and musical and art experiences. We can’t wait to see you at the library!

In Washington Court House: Continuing on Tuesday, May 14, the library in Washington Court House has a new storytime program for you! Preschool-aged storytime participants are invited to join us each week in May as we explore “Smart Start with Money!” This collaboration with the Fayette County’s Ohio State Extension Office will help provide preschoolers with valuable lessons about money. Children ages 3-5 years old will read, play and have their first lessons in financial literacy! Tuesday, May 14 features “Spending Money: How do we buy things?” Tuesday, May 21 is all about “Sharing with Others” – please bring one can of food and one gently-used toy to donate! And Tuesday, May 28 will feature “Saving Money” where patience is rewarded! All sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. We hope that you will join us for the fun and informative month of programming!

Gardening at the library is just around the corner! Join Ohio State Extension Office Master Garden volunteers and library staff on Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. to start the season! Learn about soil and seeds, and make a smash plant journal! The garden needs plenty of helping hands this season, so we hope you will join us in planting, maintaining, and later harvesting from our six beautiful raised beds. Children from our Preschool Storytime and Books & Blocks will participate, as will children of all ages. Interested in getting your kids involved in the garden this summer? Stop in the children’s department and ask how!

In Jeffersonville: As always, Tuesdays at 11 a.m., little ones are invited to listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts and socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time! Thursday, May 16, drop in between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to make a patriotic sun visor! Make and take yours for summer fun in the sun!
