Join us after school at the library May 6-10, to celebrate “Space Week” with special NASA @ Your Library programming! Each afternoon the Children’s Department will feature a different hands-on space activity! Monday: Make a Pocket Solar System, Tuesday: Discover and Eat the Loony Lunar Phases, Wednesday: Investigating the Inside of Planets, Thursday: Art and the Cosmic Connection, Friday: Wild Card! If you missed an activity this week, catch up with any activity on Friday! All programs begin at 3 p.m. and are intended for children ages 4 and up.

Then, beginning Tuesday, May 7, the library in Washington Court House has a new storytime program for you! Preschool aged storytime participants are invited to join us each week in May as we explore “Smart Start with Money!” This collaboration with the Fayette County’s Ohio State Extension Office will help provide preschoolers with valuable lessons about money. Children ages 3-5 years old will read, play and have their first lessons in financial literacy! Tuesday, May 7 will be “Money Awareness: What is Money?” Tuesday, May 14 features “Spending Money: How do we buy things?” Tuesday, May 21 is all about “Sharing with Others” – please bring one can of food and one gently-used toy to donate! And Tuesday, May 28 will feature “Saving Money” where patience is rewarded! All sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. We hope that you will join us for the fun and informative month of programming!

Mark your calendar – it is almost time to plant the Carnegie Garden! Join Ohio State Extension Office Master Garden volunteers and library staff on Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. to start the season! Learn about soil and seeds, and make a smash plant journal! The garden needs plenty of helping hands this season, so we hope you will join us in planting, maintaining and later harvesting from our six beautiful raised beds. Children from our Preschool Storytime and Books & Blocks will participate, as will children of all ages. Interested in getting your kids involved in the garden this summer? Stop in the Children’s Department and ask how!

In Washington Court House: Welcome to storytime! Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. is Preschool Storytime. This program is for children 3 – 5 years old, while Thursdays are Books & Blocks for children 1 – 3 years old. Each week features a new theme! Siblings are welcome at either session. Also, each Tuesday at 11:15 a.m., the library will host ‘Books & Babies!’ ‘Books & Babies’ is a 15-minute session specifically created for our youngest patrons to look at board books, do finger plays, bounce on laps and explore. This early literacy time will introduce your baby to the library and the world of books!

In Jeffersonville: As always, Tuesdays at 11 a.m., little ones are invited to listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time! Thursday, May 9, 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., children ages 4-18 are invited to drop-in for a Mother’s Day “Make & Take!” Create a bracelet and card for your Mom!
