Washington Garden Club busy with travel

The Washington Garden Club has been busy traveling. The club members have been to several locations, and the latest is the Deer Creek State Park and Resort in Mt. Sterling.

The five members were Joan Rodgers, Lee Reno, Winnie Gregory and Linda Warfield. Sherry Dehass has stayed close to home because of illness.

The members volunteered to decorate two Christmas trees for this year’s Christmas display. The organization, O.A.G.C., is working to decorate five state park lodges in 2019. The displays will be on show until Jan. 6, 2020. The volunteers come up with their own themes for each tree and make their own ornaments.

Christmas Open House at Deer Creek State Park Lodge was Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Santa Claus visited the children. A lunch buffet was available. Singing groups performed.

The club met at Our Place restaurant in Washington C.H. on Nov. 5. This was to be the club’s Thanksgiving meeting.

President Winnie Gregory conducted the business meeting. Sherry Dehass hosted and she placed fall flowers and pumpkins on the table. The members ate lunch and answered roll call with their favorite fall flowers.

Dehass printed information about growing new trees and giant pumpkins. This will be a new adventure for some of the members.

The next trip for spring 2020 will be to go see all the covered bridges in the area.

If you are interested in joining or bringing a friend, please call Linda Warfield at 937-675-9029. The next meeting was scheduled for Dec. 3 at Our Place restaurant at noon.
