Members of the Fayette Garden Club enjoyed a lunch together at Our Place Restaurant before their April meeting.

As members arrived, they placed a birthday card in a beautiful box that was covered in a spring flower motif. The cards and a birthday cake were given to honor Connie Meriweather’s birthday.

President Marge Clifford opened the meeting with the poem, “Girl Stuff,” written by an unknown author. Roll call was answered by naming a spring flower.

Secretary Pam Rhoads read the secretary report and Debbie Carr gave the treasurer’s report. Members received their program books for 2018.

Several upcoming events were discussed. The Region 16 Spring Meeting will be held on May 10 at the Ponderosa Banquet Center in Hillsboro. Steve Boehme of Good Seed Farm Landscaping will be the featured speaker. Members were reminded that the Region 16 Fall Meeting will be held in Washington C.H.

Another important date for the club is the 96th anniversary celebration on May 11 at the Gilmore House. The club’s involvement in cleaning the area around the Judy Chapel at the Washington Cemetery will also take place in May.

Those present for the lunch and meeting were: Debbie Carr, Marge Clifford, Mary Estle, Julia Hidy, Shirley Johnson, Jodi Kirkpatrick, Pam Rhoads and Linda Warfield.
