FCMH donates supplies to nursing program

The staff at Fayette County Memorial Hospital (FCMH) operating room took the opportunity to turn their misfortune into a good cause.

After experiencing an issue with the ventilation in the operating room, a variety of supplies were compromised and therefore not suitable for use in the operating room. Rather than discarding the supplies, the staff suggested they be donated to the Southern State Community College Nursing Program, according to FCMH officials.

Gloves, gowns, gauze, bandages and wraps were all donated to Southern State Community College to use in the classroom.

“I am very thankful for the FCMH caregivers who have a community mindset and suggested the donation rather than discarding the supplies,” said Mike Diener, CEO at FCMH. “It is a great thing when we can turn misfortune into something positive for others.”
