The Miami Trace High School girls junior-varsity basketball team defeated London 35-33 on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 to win the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament title.
The team won its semifinal game against Cedarville, 37-21 on Dec. 28.
Nevaeh Lyons was the game’s leading scorer for Miami Trace with 15 points. She hit both of her team’s three-point field goals.
Addyson Butts scored 10 points, Ellie Robinette had five points, Hannah Binegar scored four and Jessee Stewart scored one.
Sells led London with 14 points.
Miami Trace made 17 of 32 shots from the free throw line for 53 percent.
London made 9 of 19 free throws for 47 percent.
London held a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Miami Trace fought back to gain a 21-18 halftime advantage.
The game was tied, 25-25 after three quarters.
Miami Trace outscored London 10-8 in the fourth quarter for the 35-33 win.
Miami Trace (8-5 overall) is scheduled to host Hillsboro Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
