Lady Lion tennis honors seniors, shuts out Circleville

The Washington High School tennis team hosted Circleville Thursday, Sept. 26.

Washington honored its three seniors, Shawna Conger, Payton Maddux and Sidney Hall.

Washington won the match, 5-0.

At first singles, Brooklyn Foose defeated Abby Michael, 6-4, 6-0.

At second singles, Shawna Conger beat Ella Jenkins, 6-1, 6-0.

Mei Kobyashi beat Taaliya Flugham, 6-3, 6-4.

Payton Maddux and Sydnie Hall defeated Emma Shaw and Kara Hinton, 6-4, 6-2.

At second doubles, Joshalynn Worth and Addy Newsome beat Sha Ford and Sydney McClanahan, 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 10-8.

The third set was played to a 10-point tiebreaker as the match was already decided.

In one j-v doubles match, Sofia Siscoe and Hannah Barrett lost, 3-8, 7-8.

In the upcoming Sectional tournament Hall and Maddux are a No. 3 seed.

Shaw and Hinton of Circleville are seeded No. 4.

Washington has a match at Marysville Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Sectional tournament is Tuesday in Portsmouth.
