A spa for bunnies and educational sessions by rabbit experts are two features of this year’s Midwest BunFest in Columbus.
In just its second year, the Midwest BunFest was created by the Ohio House Rabbit Rescue organization to celebrate rabbits and raise money for rabbit rescue. The festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Northland Performing Arts Center.
Rabbit experts Dr. Micah Kohles and Dr. Barbara Oglesbee will lead a 90-minute educational session with in-depth information on GI Stasis and other rabbit digestive issues.
Those interested are invited to bring their rabbits to the festival and participate in activities like the Bunny Spa and Bunny Glamour Shots.
The Bunny Spa offers a variety of “personal hygiene and beauty” services that will leave your rabbit looking adorable, according to the event’s website.
The spa will be staffed with trained volunteers and registered veterinary assistants. Nail trims, light grooming, gland cleaning, hair removal, mat removal, and brushing are the available spa services for rabbits. This is a fee for the spa services and proceeds will help fund bunny rescues in the Midwest region. The prices for the services vary $5 to $8 for individual services or $20 for a full Bunny Spa package.
Complementary fresh litter boxes, water and hay will be in the Chillaxabun Lounge where a snack bar will be available for people and their rabbits who want to take a break, relax and network.
