Thaddeus Stuckey won overall grand champion and Katie Hicks won reserve grand champion respectively in Thursday’s market lamb show at the Fayette County Fair.
The market lamb show consisted of 18 classes featuring Brockle, crossbred, Dorset, Hampshire, natural color, Shropshire, Suffolk, and heavyweight sheep varieties.
The market lamb show was judged by Matt Martin from Attica, Ohio.
Judge Martin said the overall reserve and grand champion market lamb show was “really close” because the top champions in each of the 18 classes were in great competitive condition with working balance and structure in the show ring.
Thaddeus Stuckey was awarded overall grand champion market lamb.
Stuckey won top Hampshire honors: he was named champion Hampshire and was first overall in the 13th Hampshire class.
The overall reserve grand champion in the market lamb show was Katie Hicks. Hicks’ crossbred lamb was champion and won first overall in the seventh class.
In the natural color market lamb competition, Hicks won first place in class 14 natural color and Stuckey won first place in show class 15 natural color. Stuckey went on to win overall champion in natural color and Hicks won reserve champion in natural color.
Overall third place in the market lamb show was Kaci Peyton. Peyton won reserve champion crossbred and first place in show class six crossbred. Fourth place went to Andrew Guthrie. Mara Simonson won fifth.
