Farmers Market open on Scarecrow Fest weekend

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — This weekend brings the annual county Scarecrow Festival, and as I write this, roads into town are already shutting down to make way for the many events. We hope you are having a fabulous time with your family and visitors. So much to do….live music, food, rides, games, craft vendors, 5K & 10 KWalk & Fun Run, classic cars.

As we continue to live with this unusual and devastating drought, I echo the words of our OEFFA colleagues… we thank “all farmers who labor through long days and unforgiving weather to feed our communities. There are no three-day weekends on the farm, and no work more important than producing food…” We appreciate the farmers who support our market by bringing the food that is so important to this community.

Make sure you make time to visit the Saturday Fayette County Farmers Market during this busy weekend. We’ll still be in the municipal parking lot on the corner of South Main and East East streets, but in the opposite side of the parking lot (to accommodate the beer garden). Many of your favorite vendors will be there to welcome you. We expect there to be lots of parking in the expansive public lot across from us (the BMV parking lot). Come get your fresh produce, mums, jams, baked goods, cut flowers and more.

Please note that the market will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. to accommodate the festival.

SNAP EBT food benefit cards and credit/debit cards are accepted. Those using the SNAP EBT card for food purchases receive matching dollar “Produce Perks” tokens ($1 for $1) good only for fruits, vegetables, and food producing plants. So,”buy one, get one” for up to $25 every market day. Five dollar coupons will be available again for Fayette County Farm Bureau members at each Saturday market; these can be spent at both the Wednesday and Saturday markets.
