Metropolitan Housing Authority meeting – Sept. 10
The Fayette Metropolitan Housing Authority will be having its regular quarterly and annual meeting on Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. at the County Commissioners Building, 133 S. Main St. Fourth Floor, Washington Court House.
9/11 Remembrance Ceremony – Sept. 11
County and city agencies and local first responders are once again gathering together for the 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. at the gazebo on the courthouse lawn in Washington Court House. The public is invited to join for a ceremony of remembrance. This ceremony is coordinated in part by the first responder community of Fayette County, the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency, and Fayette County Veteran Services.
School Employee Retirees of Ohio meeting – Sept. 11
The Fayette County Chapter of the School Employee Retirees of Ohio (SERO) will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Commission on Aging, 1179 S. Elm St. in Washington C.H. The meeting will begin at approximately 12:15. If you would like to eat lunch prior to the meeting, please make a reservation by Friday, Sept. 6 by calling 740-335-2159. An area will be reserved for the group.
Board of DD meeting – Sept. 11
The Fayette County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold its regular monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Board meetings will be held in the Economic Building, 150 E. East St. in Washington C.H. Anyone wishing for more information can notify the board president seven days in advance of the meeting by calling 740-335-7453.
Cooking and Nutrition Classes – Sept. 13
Join the Fayette County Family YMCA for their upcoming Cooking and Nutrition Classes with OSU Fayette Extension. These classes are free and open to the public, so bring your friends and family for some delicious learning. The class will run from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Ohio Open Doors at the Fayette County Museum – Sept. 13
The Fayette County Museum will be proudly participating in Ohio Open Doors, brought to you by the Ohio History Connection, on Friday, Sept. 13. Ohio Open Doors is a statewide event, where participating sponsors are opening doors to both historic buildings and landmarks for specials tours. On Sept. 13, the museum will showcase their vintage 1906 horse-drawn hearse, manufactured by the Riddle Coach and Hearse Company of Ravenna, Ohio. You’re are invited to join the Fayette County Historical Society in honoring history, design, and stories of The Madeline and Morris Sharp House. The event will run from 6-9 p.m.
Barnyard Bash – Sept. 14
Make plans now to attend the 10th-annual Barnyard Bash. This all day festival is filled with music from all genres, food, drinks, vendors and beer trailers. More details to come.
John Hinderer Ford Car Meet – Cars & Coffee Edition – Sept. 14
Whether you’re a classic car fanatic or a modern speedster enthusiast, all makes and models are welcome at the John Hinderer Ford Car Meet. Vinyl Coffee mobile coffee bar will be ready to serve you a warm fresh cup of coffee! The event will run from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Walk Against Animal Cruelty – Sept. 14
Join the Fayette Regional Humane Society for their annual Walk Against Animal Cruelty at Washington Park. When you walk, you are supporting the Humane Agents as they fight cruelty and neglect. Your participation will make a life-saving difference. One mile walk around the park, bring your dog too. The event will go from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Fayette Co. Democrats Open House – Sept. 14
The Fayette County Democrats will be having an open house of their Democrat Headquarters on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be refreshments and a Chance Auction. Please stop in at 137 N. Main St. to visit and pick up some campaign signs and literature.
Second Saturday Car Cruise, Food Truck & Concerts – Sept. 14
Second Saturday Car Cruise – food trucks and concert series. Located on Main Street in Washington C.H. The event will run from 5-10 p.m.
Champion’s Car Show – Sept. 16
Join Champion’s Grill at The Greens Golf Course for its monthly car show. Held every third Monday of the month through September from 5-8 p.m.
Democrats’ committee meeting – Sept. 19
The Fayette County Democrats will hold their September committee meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Democrat Headquarters, 137 N. Main St. in Washington C.H.
Scarecrow Festival – Sept. 20-22
Welcome autumn in style at the Scarecrow Festival, a three-day family fun event held in downtown Washington Court House. Enjoy displays of classic cars, tractors, food, craft vendors, amusement rides, games, 5K & 10K Run/Walk, live music and more.
Scarecrow 5K & 1oK – Sept. 21
Join United Way of Fayette County for the seventh-annual Scarecrow 5k & 10k Walk/Run. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and run starts at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit the United Way and charitable organizations in Fayette County. Runners of all abilities are encouraged to participate. Course is stroller friendly.
The Ohio Fall Challenge – Triathalon, Duathlon & Aquabike – HFP Racing – Sept. 22
Join Deer Creek State Park on a fall weekend in September at the Ohio Fall Challenge. The final race in HFP Racing’s 2024 Ohio Multisport Series, the Ohio Fall Challenge takes place where it all started this season – at the scenic Deer Creek State Park. Featuring triathlon, duathlon and aqua bike with a distance for all ability levels and experience. The Ohio Fall Challenge is a great race to end your traditional multi-sport season and head into the “off-season” on a high note. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and go until 12 p.m.
Belle Aire Intermediate Picture Day – Sept. 24
It’s almost Picture Day at Belle Aire. Blue Lions in third through fifth grade will have their annual school photos taken on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
2024 Chamber Golf Outing – Sept. 27
Join the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce for a day of golf and networking. The event will take place at Buckeye Hills Country Club and will run from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Ohio Hospice Golf Classic -Sept. 27
Join Ohio’s Hospice for their 2024 Golf Classic at Snow Hill Country Club in New Vienna. Enjoy a day of golf, breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks, and games of chance all to support their continued mission of serving patients, families and the community. $95 per golfer $350 team of four Includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks. Proceeds benefit Ohio’s Hospice patient care and services. The event will run from 7:45 a.m.-2 p.m.

WHS/WMS Picture Retakes – Sept. 27
Students at Washington High School and Washington Middle School who were absent on Picture Day or want another chance to smile for the camera will have the opportunity to get their pictures retaken on Friday, Sept. 27, during school hours.
MTHS Class of 1974’s 50th reunion – Sept. 27, 28
The Miami Trace High School Class of 1974 is planning its 50-year class reunion for Sept. 27 and 28. If you graduated that year, please call Robin Beekman at 740-426-8897 with your current address.
Retired Teachers Association meeting – Oct. 3
The next meeting of the Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Grace Methodist Church. The social hour will begin at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon, and a program will follow at 1 p.m. The program will include a memorial service for all members who passed away this past year, a 50/50 Raffle, and a brief message from ORTA Representative. Lunch is $13 and reservations may be made up until the Friday before to Elise Garringer.
Peterson Fall Fest – Oct. 6
State Rep. Bob Peterson invites the community out to his farm for the annual Peterson Fall Fest on Sunday, Oct. 6, 4-7 p.m. There will be plenty of fun for the whole family including hayrides, pumpkin chunkin’, cider pressing, kettle corn over the fire, pumpkin smashing, warm donuts and bbq. The cost is $25/person or $50/family. The Peterson Farm is located at 5564 Grassy Branch Rd, Sabina.
