Modern Woodmen members, Washington CH Chapter 5458, will match funds of up to $2,500 for today’s Dwight Turner Memorial Spaghetti Dinner.
The spaghetti dinner benefits the Fayette County Special Olympics. The dinner will be a drive-thru only event and starts at 4 p.m. Pick-up ends at 7 p.m. The dinner location will be the Fayette County Commission on Aging, located at 1179 S. Elm St. in Washington C.H.
A dinner will cost $6 and includes: spaghetti and meatballs with sauce (a meatless option is available), salad, bread sticks and a dessert.
Not only are the Modern Woodmen assisting with the benefit, but the Miami Trace Key Club recently led a food drive for the Dwight Turner Memorial Spaghetti Dinner.
Key Club members spread the word of the food drive, and their efforts brought in over 200 containers of spaghetti, pasta sauce and parmesan cheese needed for the dinner. Key Club members arranged the packing, loading, and delivery of donations.
Key Club is an international, student-led service organization that provides its members with opportunities to serve their community with compassion for others, to build character by everyday acts of kindness, and develop leadership grounded in humility.

The Fayette County Special Olympics program offers athletic training and competition to any eligible person with disabilities age 8 and older. Currently, the program offers teams in bowling, basketball, unified softball, track and field, cheerleading, and flag football.
