Individual pieces fit together

0

The definition of the word “fit,” when used as an adjective is; suitable or qualified as a man fit for war. When used as a verb it means; to adapt or make suitable; as a tailor fits a customer with a suit; or a carpenter fits pieces of wood together. It can also mean to prepare; as to fit a ship for a long voyage or to fit a student for college.

Like the carpenters wood we are individual pieces fit together. Therefore, we are not only fit for one another, but together we make a mosaic as all of the pieces come together to form a beautiful picture. Human beings are not meant for isolation. That is what we do to criminals as punishment for the crimes they have committed. Along with being fit for community, we are also individually fit for certain things, but not all things. When we operate our life around the things we are fit to do, we live a blessed and productive life. If we do not, we are misfitted.

We are created to accomplish the work of God’s Kingdom. If we are not participating in that assignment, we can not expect to experience a peaceful, productive, and blessed existence.

Luke 9:62; “Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

We are created to be fit together in one accord, but we can get off track, looking back just as a farmer that does not keep his eyes forward as he plows a field.

When we separate ourselves from the church, we are no longer fit together.

Luke 14:34-35; Jesus said: “Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Jesus also said we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. As individuals we are a collective body fit together, looking forward, staying productive, and becoming the light of the world and the salt of the earth! That is what our world needs right now.

These are the everyday truths we experience at the Gathering Place every Wednesday night at 7 and Sunday morning at 9:30 and 10:30. Come and join in.
