For most people, when they think of 4-H, they think of the fair. The first type of projects to come to mind are often the animals; a cow, pig, or chicken. The next thought might be about cooking or sewing projects, but 4-H has so much more to offer.

If you can think of an area of interest, chances are 4-H has a project for it. 4-H offers more than 200 projects, there truly is something for everyone. If you live in town, no problem, we have projects that expand past the animal projects we are known for.

There are multiple ways to select a project and multiple resources to help you narrow down the many options available. If you do not have an idea of where to start, you can always visit our website (fayette.osu.edu) and take the quick “What’s your 4-H” Quiz which takes your interests and matches them to projects available. An online option is available at our previously listed website. An additional and maybe the most in-depth resource available to you is Ohio 4-H’s Project Central (projectcentral.ohio4h.org). Project Central is an easy way for 4-H members to preview Ohio 4-H project books and resources. Take a closer look at a book, find out what others have to say, and share your experience!

Beginning Fishing – This project gets you out on the water as you learn the basics of fishing. Enjoy time outside while engaging in one of the world’s oldest hobbies and professions! Topics include: fishing equipment, casting, where to fish.

Cavy Project and Record Book – Cavies, also known as guinea pigs, are a popular pet in our country. This project helps you learn all about how to care for your pet cavy. Topics include: animals’ basic needs, types of cavy housing, showmanship and breeding.
