It is a good practice to keep snow and any debris away from the storm drains. During our recent snow we want to be good neighbors.
Clearing the snow from the drains allows the melting snow water to go into the drains instead of backing up in the streets, said Gary Dean, assistant service director. The City and the Fayette Soil & Water Conservation District are partnering to educate the public about protecting Paint Creek.
Remember what goes down the drain goes directly into Paint Creek, said Brigitte Hisey, natural resource specialist. It is important that we all work together. Helping the city keep debris out of the storm drains allows them not to be clogged up.
Keeping motor oil, pet waste, grass clipping, leaves are all part of keeping Paint Creek clean.
