Fayette County Retired Teachers celebrate 50th anniversary

Retired Miami Trace High School vocal instructor Dick Glass had organized a “Musical Extravaganza” as celebratory entertainment following the buffet supper. Fourteen talented members of Glass’ Fayette County Choral Society, accompanied on the piano by Washington High School teacher David Penwell, performed patriotic songs in addition to show tunes. Here Glass is shown encouraging the audience to sing along on the final number: the Russian immigrant Irving Berlin’s beloved “God Bless America.”

Approximately 50 Fayette County Retired Teachers—including first-time members Jane Morner, and Jeannie and Jim Rosendahl—gathered on a recent summer evening in Grace United Methodist Church’s fellowship hall to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the local association. President Susan Stuckey had ordered the decorated cake, and The Willow complemented that dessert with a bright red strawberry concoction.
