Chamber awards scholarships to local seniors

In keeping with tradition, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce recently awarded five scholarships to graduating seniors. Recipients were welcomed at a recent Chamber board meeting (see photo).

The nearly $4,000 in scholarships awarded come from proceeds from the Chamber Annual Scholarship Golf Outing.

“Our members are very supportive of the youth in this community. They sponsor trophies, sport teams, 4-H trophies and youth activities of all kinds. It’s no surprise these same businesses would come together to support the scholarship golf outing,” said Gentry. “We congratulate these deserving students and wish them well as they enter the next phase of their lives.”

This year’s golf outing is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8 at Buckeye Hills Golf Club. Registration is $200 per team and can be made by calling the chamber office at 740-335-0761.
