Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted is coming to the Fayette County Fairgrounds Schoolhouse for an informal town hall meeting on Thursday, May 11.

Husted, who is running for governor, will kick off his campaign by launching a statewide discussion of Ohio’s future. The meet-and-greet will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the schoolhouse, 213 Fairview Ave. in Washington Court House.

To RSVP, visit Jon Husted’s website, HustedForOhio.com, or call 440-396-3739.

Husted is serving his sixth year as Ohio’s 53rd Secretary of State. First elected to that office in 2010, he was reelected in 2014 by a margin of 24 points and won 86 of Ohio’s 88 counties.

According to his website, Husted has worked to make Ohio a place where it is easy to vote and hard to cheat. More than 500,000 deceased voters have been removed from the voter rolls under his watch and Ohio has been named an “All-Star State” for helping military service members vote.

Husted made Ohio the lowest-cost state in the Midwest to start and operate a business, according to his website, and cut the size of the bureaucracy in his office by one-third. By cutting costs and improving technology, Husted has announced that he intends to run the Secretary of State’s office with no taxpayer money for the next two years.

Husted was raised in Montpelier, Ohio. He attended the University of Dayton (UD) where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as All-American defensive back honors as a member of the 1989 Division III National Championship football team.
