Miami Trace tennis beats Wilmington

The Miami Trace boys tennis team hosted Wilmington for an SCOL match in the final-ever season of the storied, old league Friday, April 21.

Miami Trace defeated the Hurricane, 4-1 to improve to 6-1 on the season.

At first singles, Juan Diego Navas defeated J. Fender, 6-1, 6-1.

At second singles, Seth Leach beat B. Henry, 6-3, 6-0.

M. McIntosh beat Ely Schirtzinger at third singles, 6-2, 7-5.

At first doubles, Matt Fender and Thomas Bondi defeated D. Moyer and J. Romer, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

At second doubles, Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen beat J. Douglas and D. Andrews, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5).

Miami Trace’s j-v team beat Wilmington, 3-2, improving the Panthers’ record to 4-1-1.

At first singles, Isaac Abare lost to B. Rhoads, 1-8.

Drew Stanforth won at second singles over R. Camp, 8-4.

Dylan Jackson defeated N. Banks at third singles, 8-3.

Devin Riggs and Jack Ivers lost to B. Evans and C. Smith, 2-8.

Miami Trace won the second doubles match by forfeit.

“This match was great competition, and both teams left it all on the courts,” Miami Trace head coach Mitch Augenstein said. “I’m proud of my boys for winning the points when they mattered most. We’re looking forward to a 4-match week (this) week.”

Miami Trace is at Hillsboro Wednesday and home against Clinton-Massie Friday.
